“Plumb 2” and the hammers flowered around it is a second version of a sculpture I made a few years ago. The original “Plumb” was simpler and about centering oneself anatomcially and mentally. Wood is stacked on top of each other to make an Empire State building like shape, and to mimic vines growing out of metal and urban materials. “Plumb 2” with hammers is about artifacts and designs found in barns. The siholuette is inspired by corbels, a feature in architecture that barely has a function but more so for decoration. Stacking wood, and drilling pieces together is an expression of my process of building fast in reaction to a desperate attempt to make something out of nothing.
