The Way Back is a series of stepping stones inpired by those I had in my backyard growing up; we liked to stand on them to avoid wet grass when seeing constellations, to stay grounded while stargazing.
While creating this work, I thought about our place in the universe, the Earth as our home, and the things that become sacrificed and lost in the search for more beyond it.
Over the course of the exhibition, my family photograph will degrade, and weed will sprout through the spaces created by my footprint—nature and its cycles will endure.
