Memories are essential to us as a species, yet they are fragile. Like anything in nature, they are subject to decay and, ultimately, loss. This sculpture is from a body of work made in the aftermath of suddenly losing my mother. The work became a series of vessels for what cannot be held onto, but also cannot be let go. In this sculpture, suspended bone and branch hold both disintegration and fragile balance—like memory itself.
