Elijah Wheat Showroom presents DEVOUR, a solo exhibition by Michelle Silver. Venture into an installation of loose, intuitive paintings surrounded by hand-woven webbing that nod to Matriphagy, a behavior seen in certain arachnids where offspring consume the mother. Witnessing the American Mother consumed by a top-down hierarchy, and societally conditioned gendered power paradigms, we often accept how the matriarch sacrifices her own wellbeing for her children. Finding hope despite and through this hardship, mothers together build their own lattice of community support and mutual aid within a woven life-mesh of equal parts Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine.
