Each election season, these signs saturate the landscape, presenting competing visions of change. Neighboring lawns often display opposing messages, at times fostering dialogue and at others reinforcing polarization. Removed from their original sites and brought together, these signs lose their singular authority and instead produce a condition of visual and ideological overload. Messages from differing political parties stand together, each calling for its vision of change or progress. In this mass grouping, individual messages compete and dissolve into a unified whole.
