Mother-In-Law's Gallery

EMERGENCY ROOM

is a participatory, community-centered art event hosted by Mother in Law’s Gallery in Germantown, NY for Fall of Freedom, November 22-23rd, 2025. Visitors are invited to enter the gallery to respond to the in-take prompt “How are you feeling?” by writing, drawing, painting, (or taping, or post-it-noting) their responses directly on the gallery walls. Over the course of the weekend, the gallery will serve as both a balm and a sounding board for individual anxieties, challenges, struggles and pain points in the face of the accelerating emergency of fascism. Responses can be anonymous or signed. At the end of the two-day event, event organizers & artists Jessica Hargreaves, Jacob Rhodes, and Nancy Baker Cahill will document responses as an archive of this deadly moment in history.
