‘Protector 1’ blurs the boundaries between plant and animal, using exaggerated curves and vibrant colors that echo nature’s palette—exotic flowers and striking insects—to create a work that embodies both dramatic movement and elegant stillness. In the making of this work, my cats kept finding shelter underneath it, so I offer this title as an anchor to the deliberately enigmatic form.
