Fishing rope, bungie cord, metal stand, 31” x 16” x 16”

$700

My sculptural work is made from found and scavenged materials. The masks are a tool for me to create an alter ego, be more embodied, be a fool, or be subversive in plain sight. When displaying the masks without a subject, they become their own characters. This piece was made with fishing rope I found for free on craigslist. When I arrived to collect it, the woman shared that she was so happy to know her late husband’s fishing rope would be made into art. This particular mask was made to be heavy on its wearer, as it holds the weight of life lost. It also has a tilted expression, adding a layer of humor.
