“An Evolution of Flora,” is a digitally fabricated re-imagination of the gothic sublime illustrations from the 1799 book “Temple of Flora,” by Robert Thornton. In the present day, technological colonialism is creating a new sublime imaginary, both beautiful and terrifing. “An Evolution of Flora,” is alluring, yet disconcerting, a lifeless plant ghost created in contrast to the living world.
