A large scale earthwork, “Coral Gardens” collapses the distance between land and sea by uniting reef morphologies with a terrestrial landscape. Over the course of the exhibition, the installation gradually shifts through weather and ecological processes as plants and organic matter overtake the sculpted terrain, blurring the boundary between constructed form and natural system. The work invites viewers to consider the fragility of life, the interconnection between micro and macro ecosystems, and how humans exist within natural systems that continuously reshape the environments we inhabit.
